Outback School
National Competition: 2nd place- stage 1
This annual national competition was sponsored by the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia. Designed for disabled children, the planning focuses on the clarity of circulation & orientation within the building. By introducing a basic cruciform to the main circulation, the functional zones are expressed along the circulation axes.
Street Kids Refuge
National Competition- 3rd place
This design seeks to challenge the housing “typology” to redefine its basic design principles. Careful consideration is given to the planning discipline that articulates the formal/ informal and public/ privates spaces. Located on a sloping site, the outcome of the internal planning allows the three dimensional expression of its form that further reinforces its intent.
Taichung Civic Centre, Taiwan
International Design Competition- Highly Commended
The principal idea behind this design is to break down the traditional barrier of a government institutional building. By establishing a hierarchy to the functions, the building is arranged so that it becomes more open and reveals itself to the public at the edges of the site. This transparency is articulated with a series of fragmented planes to emphasise the break down of this barrier.
